10th October

Every year on 10th October, World Mental Health Day shines a vital spotlight on the importance of mental health around the world. This day encourages open dialogue, greater understanding, and the reduction of stigma surrounding mental health challenges. At our veterinary practice, we understand the significance of this topic not just in our own lives, but within our wider community.
The Demands of Veterinary Work and Mental Health
The veterinary profession is deeply rewarding, yet it brings with it unique emotional challenges. Caring for beloved pets, making difficult medical decisions, and supporting families through hard times can take a toll, increasing the risk of stress and burnout. Recognising these realities highlights that mental health is essential for everyone—no matter their profession or background.
Mental health deserves the same attention and care as physical health. By valuing emotional wellbeing, we create a more compassionate and resilient community for both people and animals.

Green Ribbons: Our Symbol of Support
This year, our practice will be marking World Mental Health Day by wearing green ribbons, the international symbol for mental health awareness. We invite all clients to join us by collecting a ribbon at reception. Anyone who wishes may also make a donation when taking a ribbon, with proceeds going to a mental health charity.
World Mental Health Day is a reminder to prioritise mental wellbeing every day. Whether through self-care, honest conversations, or community initiatives, each small step contributes to a broader culture of support and understanding.
On 10th October, let’s stand together for mental health, wear our green ribbons proudly, and continue working towards a world where mental health is openly recognised and valued.
