Bringing home a new puppy or kitten is one of the most heart-warming moments of life. However, it’s crucial to provide a secure environment for your new furry friend to adjust comfortably.
Start by preparing a dedicated, cozy space where your pet can feel safe. This area should be away from loud noises, high traffic zones, and other pets that might overwhelm them. Include a comfortable bed, chew toys, and bowls for food and water to create a welcoming haven.
Pet-proofing your home is an essential step in ensuring their safety. Remove or secure toxic plants, dangling cords, sharp objects, or anything small enough for them to swallow. Pay close attention to areas where they might get stuck or fall and block access to those spaces.
Additionally, make sure to introduce your puppy or kitten to your home gradually. Allow them time to explore and adapt to their surroundings while you supervise. Encourage them to use their designated space and reward them for doing so, reinforcing positive behaviour. This process helps minimize stress and builds their confidence as they settle into your family.
