Immunisation awareness month

August is 'Immunisation awareness month' and we would like to educate our clients and other pet owners on the importance of vaccinations.

What are vaccinations and why are they important?

ree

Vaccinations are injections that stimulate the immune system to produce antibodies that fight off specific infections. They can prevent your pets from getting sick or reduce the severity of their symptoms if they do.

Vaccinations can also protect you and your family from zoonotic diseases, which are diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans.

What do we vaccinate dogs, cats and rabbits against?

ree

Dogs:

Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD) - Bordetella bronchiseptica, Canine parainfluenza  and Leptospirosis.

Cats:

Feline Cat Flu (Upper Respiratory Tract Disease) - feline herpes virus and feline calicivirus, Leukemia and panleukopenia

ree

Rabbits: Myxomatosis and Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (2 strains)

Preventative care is the first stepping stone in making sure your pet is in their best health and vaccines are one of the treatments that fall into that category.

At Banstead Village Veterinary Surgery, we always strive to give the best care to our patients and that is why we have created a 'Preventative Health care' club just for that.

ree

Our club is called the 'Very Important Pet (VIP)' Preventative health care club - as each pet is important to us, we like to make sure we are providing them with the best preventative care but also help our clients spread the costs of these preventative treatments as well.

Have a look at what is included via the link below and if you would like to sign-up today please do so via our website.
